 A PODCAST FOR THE ARENA

WHY

I didn’t start this podcast because I needed another hobby, or because I thought the world was desperate to hear my voice. I started Old Enough to Know Better because I’m tired.

I’m tired of guarding my words in a world where the truth gets twisted into hate speech, and lies get polished and packaged as “news.” I’m tired of tiptoeing around people who will take offense no matter what you say, while those same people have no problem slandering, mocking, or outright attacking anyone who dares to disagree.

The name Old Enough to Know Better came to me because that’s exactly where I’m at in life. I’ve lived long enough, worked long enough, and seen enough of this country with its tragedies and triumphs to know better than to buy the sugar-coated garbage being spoon-fed to the American public every day. I’ve stood in the middle of disasters, worked alongside first responders, law enforcement, and military, and I’ve seen real sacrifice. I’ve seen the cost of service in the faces of men and women who gave everything to protect strangers who will never know their names.

I’ve seen bravery that never makes the headlines, and I’ve seen those same people demonized by politicians who have never lifted anything heavier than a microphone.

This podcast isn’t about making friends. In fact, I expect I’ll lose some. That’s fine. If the price of truth is popularity, then it’s a price I’ll pay gladly. Because what’s at stake here isn’t my social circle; it’s the future my kids are growing up in. And I’ll be damned if I let a media machine raise them on lies, fear, and propaganda while I stay silent to keep everyone else comfortable.

But here’s the hard part: so many people listen, nod along, even click “like,” but they stop there. They don’t share it. They don’t repost it. And that silence, that hesitation, speaks volumes. It shows me the fear people carry; that if they admit they agree with what I say, if they put their name next to my words, then they risk losing their own friends, their own social standing. It’s a lack of courage that cuts deep, because truth without a voice doesn’t travel far. And if we’re all too scared to carry it beyond our own ears, then the lies win by default.

And let’s be real… sponsors and supporters are few and far between. A podcast might seem like a cheap way to share your views, but it isn’t free. It takes equipment, time, research, editing, hosting. It’s labor. A labor of love, yes. A labor born of passion, absolutely. But still labor. And when you put in that kind of work, when you spend your nights speaking truth into a microphone instead of resting, it’s hard not to notice how many people are content to consume but afraid to contribute.

Patriotism isn’t a bumper sticker or a soundbite. It’s a willingness to stand for your country when it’s unpopular. It’s backing the men and women who wear uniforms, not because they’re perfect, but because they’re necessary. It’s acknowledging that freedom costs something, and that silence in the face of deceit is a betrayal of that cost.

That’s what this show is about. Not left, not right… truth. If it stings, so be it. If it costs me friendships, so be it. If it makes people uncomfortable, good. Growth doesn’t happen in comfort. And maybe, just maybe, if enough of us stop playing it safe, if enough of us start speaking up without apology, then my kids (and yours) can grow up in a country where courage isn’t a crime and truth isn’t censored.

I don’t promise that you’ll agree with me. I don’t even ask you to. What I do promise is that you’ll never get the watered-down, double-spun, poll-tested version of my thoughts. You’ll get it straight, you’ll get it raw, and you’ll get it from someone who’s been in the arena long enough to know what’s real.

Because I’m old enough to know better. And it’s time we all were.
